"Dad!" Tobias burst into his father's room, grinning. "Dad, I'm not green anymore! You fixed it!"

George sat up in bed suddenly, sending his mass of sheets and blankets falling off the bed. "Wha-" he blinked, and then looked at his son. "You realise I haven't slept in the last two days?" he sank back onto the bed, apparently noticing nothing to do with oddly colored skin.

Tobias deflated a bit. "I thought you'd want to know that whatever you did worked."

"Huh?" George, not quite being able to go back to sleep in those few seconds, especially since he was cold, looked up at his son. "You're..." he stared. Then sat up. "Hey, you're not green!"

Tobias grinned at him. "I'm not! And you're not that gross purpley-brownish color anymore!"

George looked down at his arms. "Ah, no, I'm not." There seemed to be a twinge of disappointment in his voice as he stretched his arms in front of him. He swung his legs round off the bed, and stood up. "Right. You want to give me another sample?"

There was a crash from downstairs. "How marvelous!"

"Why do you need another one?" Tobias asked, glancing at the door at the sound of the crash.

George's face lit up and he pushed past his son and down the stairs. "Conrad!" he called, rushing down the stairs. "You think it worked? THat it was us?"

"I haven't the slightest idea!" he called, looking up as George came down and lowering his voice to a normal volume. "But someone obviously did something." He glanced around him at the books that lay scattered on the floor. "You know, it's never easy when you need a book from the bottom of a stack."

"You mean you weren't the ones who fixed it?" Tobias asked, following his dad down the stairs.

George grinned up at his son for a second. "Not a clue my dear boy. But Conrad didn't take any, and he isn't orange any more. So probably not, no." He got to the bottom of the stairs, and surveyed the books all over the floor. "I think it's easier to find things when they're spread around anyway."

Conrad shrugged. "Probably true." He paused. "We should probably study the goo a bit more and try to figure out just what happened here. Or if it even was the goo at all!"
Tobias Blythe
May 2nd, 2007, 04:37 PM
"What if it wasn't the goo?" Tobias asked.
George Blythe

"We do!" George cried delightedly. "Lets get started right away. And if it wasn't, Tobias, we'll discover that." He started to bound up the stairs. "Don't forget to go to school!"

"Erk." Mildly panicked, Tobias dashed up the stairs and into his room to get ready.
