so, is there any certain way youd like us to write? like, ways of entering, exiting, being in 2 "places" at once...?

Game play is done in third-person, past tense and format is the same as if you were writing a story. So, for example, "Joe walked into the room, looking around." or "Joe stormed out, slamming the door behind him." Take a look at posts by other players. What do theirs look like?
Characters should only be in one game place at once. We play in a pretty linear way, with time passing, and it gets confusing if a characer is in more than one thread at the same time, since we assume that those threads are going on at roughly the same time.

Don't worry about it! We are planning on putting up guidelines for all that stuff just as soon as we have time!

lol ok good. and another question or so....
-What's the time like here? Does it go on like the normal time here? Or does the time stop when you log off?
-If one is calling someone at another residence, do you just go to that residence's thread and act like you're calling them?
sorry for my questions! I know the guidelines will be up shortly, but I need to know for current posts.

It's okay! These are all good questions and other people are probably also wondering!
Timing: The day is currently April 23, probably sometime in the afternoon, judging from the scenes that have been played out. This in game day will probably continue for a few more real life games and then we'll switch to a new one. We're working on getting a header up that will announce what day it is.
If you're playing out a scene in a public place, like the diner, then we prefer that the character is posted as leaving. Other characters may enter that thread and continue to play there and it's less confusing if they can be sure that your character is gone.
In more private scenes, ones between you and a couple other players in a place where new characters aren't likely to enter, you're welcome to pause the scene if you have to leave and then continue it later once all of the people in it are online again.
Making Phone Calls: Overall, we'd prefer that interaction between characters was done in person, since this is less confusing and allows for more people to join in. We also can't think of much that would need to be played out through a phone call right now. Something like calling to invite someone over is something that could be mentioned in a scene, but doesn't really need to be played out.

Hi All
I have a question.
Reading around the forums I see that the intervals between posts in a thread is generally very short - just minutes.
I have the feeling I'm in a differnt timezone to most people here and it is likely that I won't be able to respond to a post within few minute interval which seems to be the average here.
Is this likely to be a problem? I wanted to check this before I entered any threads.
Thanks!

The way we usually do scenes is by playing when we have a few hours online to play threads out to the the end. This way we can avoid problems like characters being stuck in one place while things are going on in another place as well as having scenes that go unfinished for weeks.
If your time online isn't matching up with times when other people are online, we'd suggest PMing anyone you want do a scene with and seeing if you can find a time when you're both/all likely to be online to play. This goes for Checks and Balances too, if you'd like to do a plot related scene. Just PM us and we'll find a way to set something up!

i have a question...is there any particular way to jump in to threads? are we allowed to? or do we need permission each time?

It depends in the thread. Some scenes are public and others are private. Anyone can post in a public scene, but if the scene seems private, then it's best to check for permission.
A private scene generally will take place in a residence or some sort of place where other characters are unlikely to flock to. However, sometimes private scenes may take place in other areas too. Private scenes can be distinguished by looking to see how many people are posting in the thread. If only two characters are involved, it's probably a private scene. If more than that are involved, but it looks like the characters may be having a private conversation, then it's best to be on the safe side and check with the players to see if you can join in.
A public thread is, basically, any thread that is not private. If the thread is located in a public area and you see several characters joining in, you can bet that it's a public scene, and you certainly join in without permission. We encourage you to jump in on public threads, and if you aren't sure, go ahead and ask! :)
